Psalm 103:8-12 (NIV) The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever; he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
Luke 11:2-4 (NIV) He said to them, “When you pray, say:
“‘Father, hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come.
Give us each day our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins,
for we also forgive everyone who sins against us.
And lead us not into temptation.’”
“Forgive in the big things and the small things. Don’t take offense. In fact, the stuff that usually might offend us is a huge opportunity! Jesus told us we will be forgiven as we forgive others.
Fact is, most of us just don’t get that many opportunities to forgive. Once I realized that, traffic went from being an exercise in anger to ‘forgiveness practice.’ Life is so much better that way.” (page 20)
Where do you have opportunities right now to practice forgiveness?
When has forgiveness helped to make your life better?
Think back to a moment when you got angry. What might have changed in that situation if you were focused on forgiveness rather than anger?
