No Condemnation + The Framework

Into the Heart of Romans
A Deep Dive into Paul’s Greatest Letter
No Condemnation + The Framework

John 3:13-17 (NIV) “No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven —the Son of Man. Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.” For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

Romans 7:24-25 (NIV) What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself, in my mind, am a slave to God’s law, but in my sinful nature a slave to the law of sin.

Romans 10:4 (NIV) Christ is the culmination of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.

  1. There is “no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus” because the Spirit now brings the life the law intended. How does understanding that both the cross and the Spirit work together to free us from condemnation change the way you experience forgiveness, spiritual growth, and daily life with God? In what ways have you seen the Spirit bring new life or freedom where you once felt guilt, failure, or condemnation?

  2. Interpreting Paul faithfully means learning to see the world through his eyes, not trying to adjust his words to fit ours. What helps you move from trying to make the Bible say what you want it to say to allowing it to reshape how you see God, yourself, and the world?

  3. Sometimes we rush to ask, “So what does this mean for me?” before fully hearing what Paul (or the rest of Scripture) is really saying. How can we slow down and listen deeply enough to grasp the true message behind the text, even when it challenges our assumptions or questions?

  4. Paul didn’t make the gospel “relevant” by reshaping it into non-Jewish categories; instead, he told the story of Israel fulfilled in Jesus, Israel’s Messiah. When have you been tempted to simplify or “modernize” the gospel message? How might digging deeper into Scripture’s full story help you see and share the gospel more faithfully?

  5. How does seeing the law not as the enemy, but as part of God’s good purpose fulfilled in Christ, change the way you understand grace, obedience, and the continuity of God’s plan? What difference does it make in your faith when you see Jesus not as rejecting the law, but as completing and transforming its true intent?
