CHAPTER 2
Don’t Sweat the Threat + The Blame Game (1|2)
Pages 25-29 (end reading at: the God who gives bad gifts and the wife who spoils everything + read Application paragraph on Page 33-34)

Genesis 3:8-13 (ESV) The aftermath of eating the forbidden fruit will be read on page 27.

  1. It is nearly impossible not to compare our gifts to someone else’s and place different values upon them. It’s in our (sinful) nature to do this, and we do it instinctively. We know all gifts are important and needed and should not be compared or coveted, but how can we instead rewire ourselves to instinctively find joy in other people’s strengths?

  2. “As soon as Adam confesses is FEAR, God asks if he had DISOBEYED Him. The Lord immediately joins the dots, seeing the fear, He smells the sin. In this instance, the spiritual realities of temptation, deception, unbelief, and disobedience lay behind the fear and shame. Both are present, and both are real, but one caused the other. How and where have you seen the dots connected between sinful actions and fear/shame?

  3. When and where have you experienced or witnessed “the blame game” causing the consequences of sinful action to become exponentially worse?

  4. Have you experienced being an accusor or being the one accused, and at some point realized, hang on, this just became about a different topic?
