1 Corinthians 15:9-10 (NIV) For I am the least of the apostles and do not even deserve to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace to me was not without effect. No, I worked harder than all of them —yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me. Whether then, it is I or they, this is what we preach, and this is what you believed.

Romans 15:30-33 (NIV) I urge you, brothers and sisters, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to join me in my struggle by praying to God for me. Pray that I may be kept safe from the unbelievers in Judea and that the contribution I take to Jerusalem may be favorably received by the Lord’s people there, so that I may come to you with joy, by God’s will, and in your company be refreshed. The God of peace be with you all. Amen.

  1. In what ways have cultural messages about success, happiness, or entitlement influenced your expectations of life or faith?

  2. How can we hold both faith for healing and humility before God’s mystery without diminishing either? What does Scripture teach us about maintaining expectancy for Kingdom breakthrough while also honoring those who don’t experience physical healing?

  3. Have you ever struggled to reconcile your faith in God’s power to heal with situations where healing didn’t come?

  4. Have you ever struggled with wanting to control the outcomes of something you were trusting God with? How did learning to surrender that control deepen your understanding of grace and dependence on Him?

  5. When have you experienced God’s grace shining brightest in the darkest or most challenging season of your life? How did that experience change the way you see Him and yourself?
