John 8:32 (NIV) To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” They answered him, “We are Abraham’s descendants and have never been slaves of anyone. How can you say that we shall be set free?” Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. Now, a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”

2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NIV) All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

2 Corinthians 1:20-22 (NIV) For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God. Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.

  1. Why do you think some people today look for “new revelations” outside of Scripture? How can we as believers stay open to the Holy Spirit’s guidance while remaining anchored in God’s written Word?

  2. How does knowing that all of God’s promises are fulfilled in Christ give us confidence in His faithfulness and calling on our lives?

  3. Why is it vital for believers to place complete trust in God’s promises rather than in their own resources or abilities?

  4. Can you think of a time when trusting one of God’s promises gave you strength or direction beyond what you could have managed on your own?

  5. What does it mean that our “Amen” is an active response rather than a passive agreement?
