TOGETHER read the devotional and the scripture.
INDIVIDUALLY take notes in your journal on what stands out.

Ephesians 4:1-6 (NIV) As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called ; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.

Acts 20:32-35 (NIV) “Now I commit you to God and to the word of his grace, which can build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified. I have not coveted anyone’s silver or gold or clothing. You yourselves know that these hands of mine have supplied my own needs and the needs of my companions. In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’

TOGETHER pray for one another.

INDIVIDUALLY answer the questions in your journal - process your devotional notes and pray.

  • What do you think of Alexander’s view of vocation?

  • For many of us, our self-worth is tied to the kind of work we do. Does this square with the call of discipleship?

  • Does your current work conflict with your true vocation as a disciple of Jesus?

“Our vocation is to convert the enemy into a guest and to create the free and fearless space where brotherhood and sisterhood can be formed and fully experienced.”

PRAYER:
Dear Lord, remind us that no one is above reproach, and no one is beyond redemption. Help us to look into the eyes of people we find hard to like and see your image. Assure us this day that Your mercy triumphs over judgment. Amen.
